A few days ago an old man was sitting on the footpath. As I listened to the elderly man recount his life’s joys and sorrows, I couldn’t help but feel a pang of sadness in my chest as tears ran down his face. I wished I could do something to help alleviate his suffering. It’s heartbreaking to witness people sleeping on the roadside with no safe shelter or security for food, especially with all the noise around. It raises the question of how we can help them become more self-sufficient, so they no longer have to live like vagabonds. Seeing these events every day can spark anxiety within us and make us want to do something to help. If we could find a way to assist them in becoming more independent, it would be met with praise and admiration.
